"Weeds Warez: Ye Old Gamer's Warez CD #1" Intro Demo Scroller!

New! - August 1, 2013

This is a YouTube video of a "Cracktro" styled intro demo scroller that was created back in 1997 by some shady hacker, for some questionable "Warez" CD of the era.

The intro demo scroller consisted of the single file "RUNME!.EXE" (compressed with "PKLite"), and was 162,414 bytes in filesize. The intro included a scrolling text demo with palette-cycled animated graphics, "Tracker" format music, hacker group "Greetz", as well as an ending ANSI/ASCII animated graphics screen.

You can download the original "Tracker" format music file that is used in the intro demo scroller and the video ("OVERDRIV.MOD") Here, and download the original scroller demo ("RUNME!.ZIP") Here.

Old-School "Computers On Line" Demo Scrollers!

New! - July 31, 2013

This is a YouTube video of several old-school "Cracktro" styled demo scrollers that I created back in 1994-1995. I created the demo scrollers to upload them to various local BBS's (back when I lived in Miami, Florida USA) as advertisements for my new business at the time, "Computers On Line".

The complete scrollers demo pack consisted of the following six files:

RUN-ME!!.COM (1,542 bytes) = A semi-interactive launcher for the seperate demos.

COL1.EXE (66,190 bytes) = A fancy scrolling text demo with palette-cycled animated graphics, "Tracker" format music, with a simple ending ANSI/ASCII animated graphics screen.

COL2.COM (666 bytes) = A simple star scroller demo, with FM OPL2 synthesized music.

COL3.EXE (1,539 bytes) = A simple ANSI/ASCII text scroller demo, with FM OPL2 synthesized music.

COL4.EXE (17,052 bytes) = A basic 320x200 8-bit image graphics splash screen.

COL5.COM (1,228 bytes) = A simple ending ANSI/ASCII animated graphics screen.

The complete scrollers demo pack totaled up to a mere 88,217 bytes of files (compressed with "PKLite"), and the zipped up pack of demos ("COLPRES2.ZIP") was only 80,731 bytes... PERFECT for downloading from a local BBS, even with a lowly 2400 BAUD modem connection :)

BTW, "Computers On Line" refered to a computer being powered-up and in good working order. It did NOT refer to being connected to the Internet (which was in it's infancy back in 1994). For the morbidly curious, my original (and extremely retro) web page for "Computers On Line" that I created back in early 1995 is archived Here.

Lastly, you can download the original "Tracker" format music file that is used in the first part of the video ("COLREDUX.MOD") Here, and download the original complete scrollers demo pack ("COLPRES2.ZIP") Here.

The Gatorade Song!

New! - July 28, 2013

Here is a YouTube video of an extremely simple "Chiptune" song in "Tracker" format that I composed last night, "The Gatorade Song".

I Tracked the song using "Fast Tracker II" and "MilkyTracker", and created the instruments from four raw samples that I recorded by striking a plastic "Gatorade" bottle in various ways (with the bottle cap on, with the bottle cap off, with the bottle cap on and the bottle muted with my hand, and with the bottle cap off and the bottle muted with my hand).

Hehe, I bet you've never heard a plastic Gatorade bottle sound like that before LOL! Surprising, isn't it? :)

For anyone interested, download and listen to the original "MOD" format music file ("Gatorade.mod") from my ¥Weeds¥ Tracker Format Tunes link below. Note that you can also download a MIDI SoundFont version of the song Here as well. Lastly, be sure to download the excellent freeware media player "XMPlay" to listen to these "Tracker" format and "MIDI SoundFont" tunes!

Death Assured Remix!

New! - July 23, 2013

I've (yet again) been playing around with the "Tracker" format music programs "Fast Tracker II" and "MilkyTracker" for a short time (with all of the programs' options set to be as Amiga "ProTracker" compatible as possible), in conjunction with the old Amiga "Ultimate SoundTracker" "ST-01 Sample Disk".

Here is a YouTube video of the resulting "MOD" format music file "Death Assured Remix" (playing in the old "Open Cubic Player" for DOS). The song is a Techno-Trance "Tracker" format remix of one of my old compositions for Team Eternal's "Eternal DOOM" ("Death Assured Reprise", originally composed for the "Dominion" map of Eternal DOOM).

Hehe, some 4-channel 8-bit "L-R-R-L" stereo retro Tracker goodness at it's best... extremely overused patterns, extremely overused samples, and an extreme lack of sleep LOL!

For anyone interested, download and listen to the original "MOD" format music file ("DeathAsR.mod") from my ¥Weeds¥ Tracker Format Tunes link below. Also, be sure to download the excellent freeware media player "XMPlay" to listen to these "Tracker" format tunes!

P.S. You can download and listen to the original Eternal DOOM MIDI Soundtrack from my "Eternal DOOM Soundtrack" link below :)

Not Enough Sleep Too!

New! - July 18, 2013

Here is a YouTube video of the resulting "MOD" format music file "Not Enough Sleep Too" (playing in the old "Open Cubic Player" for DOS)... and like the title states, sleep is what I was SEVERELY LACKING when I composed this song the other night! Hehe, some 4-channel 8-bit "L-R-R-L" stereo retro Tracker goodness at it's best... extremely overused loops, extremely overused patterns, extremely overused samples, and NOT ENOUGH SLEEP LOL!

For anyone interested, download and listen to the original "MOD" format music file ("NoSleep2.mod") from my ¥Weeds¥ Tracker Format Tunes link below. Also, be sure to download the excellent freeware media player "XMPlay" to listen to these "Tracker" format tunes!

My first Chiptune, "The Gayme Boy"!

New! - July 4, 2013

Here is YouTube video of an extremely simple "Chiptune" song in "Tracker" format that I composed last night, "The Gayme Boy". The song uses only three basic waveforms (à la Nintendo GameBoy DMG-01 style), and was Tracked using "Fast Tracker II" and "MilkyTracker". Hehe, some (new) retro GameBoy music goodness at it's best :)

For anyone interested, download and listen to the (slightly extended) original "MOD" format music file ("GaymeBoy.mod") from my ¥Weeds¥ Tracker Format Tunes link below. Also, be sure to download the excellent freeware media player "XMPlay" to listen to these "Tracker" format tunes!

P.S. To all of the moronic Liberals: "Gay" = "HAPPY", ya dumb asses!

Not Enough Sleep!

New! - June 22, 2013

I've been recently playing around with the old DOS "Tracker" format music program "Fast Tracker II" for a short time (with all of the program's options set to be as Amiga "ProTracker" compatible as possible), in conjunction with the old Amiga "Ultimate SoundTracker" "ST-## Sample Disks".

Here is a YouTube video of the resulting "MOD" format music file "Not Enough Sleep!" (playing in "Fast Tracker II")... and like the title states, sleep is what I was SEVERELY LACKING when I composed this song last night!

For anyone interested, download and listen to the original "MOD" format music file ("NoSleep!.mod") from my ¥Weeds¥ Tracker Format Tunes link below. Also, be sure to download the excellent freeware media player "XMPlay" to listen to these "Tracker" format tunes!

Fun with Fast Tracker II!

New! - June 20, 2013

Here is a YouTube video of the resulting "MOD" format music file "Lamer!" (playing in "Fast Tracker II")... and like the title states, it's an EXTREMELY LAME Tracker song! Hehe, some 4-channel 8-bit "L-R-R-L" stereo retro Tracker goodness :)

For anyone interested, download and listen to the original "MOD" format music file ("Lamer!.mod") from my ¥Weeds¥ Tracker Format Tunes link below. Also, be sure to download the excellent freeware media player "XMPlay" to listen to these "Tracker" format tunes!

Black Suits Comin'!

New! - May 5, 2013

Been "Rockin' in the Backwoods" again!

This is the beginning of Will Smith's "Black Suits Comin'" (left-click to play / right-click to download), which is also known as "Nod Your Head!" (left-click to play / right-click to download), and is the main theme song from the 2002 blockbuster movie "Men In Black II".

The song snippet was sequenced from scratch using Cakewalk Professional v3.01, and synthesized using the Yamaha S-YXG50 v4.23.14S WDM software synthesizer.

Quote of the day:
"I might be a white boy, but I've got a black attitude!" - Rich ¥Weeds¥ Nagel

(Re: The lyrics from Will Smith's original song:
"Black suit, the black shades, the black shoes. Black tie, with the black attitude!")

The Jerky Boys Rap!

New! - November 18, 2012

This "song" was a little something that I threw together back in early 1995. The tune features sound clips from the comedy team The Jerky Boys, who were known for their hilarious prank phone calls that were broadcasted on popular AM radio stations around the country. Hehe, back in the day, the local Miami Florida radio station Y-100 even played my little "creation" during one of their morning radio shows LOL!

The song was composed using an old DOS "Tracker" format music program "Fast Tracker II", and sometime during the course of the years I recorded the original "MOD" format music file to a standard MP3 file.

For anyone interested, download and listen to the original "MOD" format music file ("JerkyBoy.mod") from my ¥Weeds¥ Tracker Format Tunes link below. Also, be sure to download the excellent freeware media player "XMPlay" to listen to these "Tracker" format tunes!

Anyhow, without further adieu, watch and listen to my YouTube video of The Jerky Boys Rap! below :)

¥Weeds¥ Untitled 4!

New! - November 1, 2012

This is an older and previously unreleased song of mine. The song was a piece that I had composed back in 1999, but I had never given it a proper title... hence, it was simply called "¥Weeds¥ Untitled 4" (left-click to play / right-click to download).

The song is an upbeat John-Cougar-Mellencamp-ish-Piano-Folk-Rock-ish sort of thing (for lack of a better term<GRIN>), and I decided to go ahead and finish it... as well as fixing all of the mistakes that I had made when originally composing the song (as the original MIDI file was performed and sequenced in real-time, and not quantized).

Anyhow, listen to the song Here (left-click to play / right-click to download), and I hope that you like it :)

Star Trek: First Contact!

New! - September 4, 2012

This is the main theme from the 1996 blockbuster movie "Star Trek: First Contact" (left-click to play / right-click to download). The song was sequenced from scratch using Cakewalk Professional v3.01, and synthesized using Edirol's "Orchestral" software synthesizer VST.

This is one of my most favorite movie soundtracks, and is extremely beautiful sounding and moving :)

Johnny B. Goode (Redux)!

New! - September 1, 2012

Been "Rockin' in the Backwoods" again!

Another of my own little renditions of Chuck Berry's 1950's classic "Johnny B. Goode" (left-click to play / right-click to download). This version of the song was sequenced using Cakewalk Professional v3.01, and synthesized using Edirol's "Super Quartet" software synthesizer VST.

The song is more of a 50's style of song, compared to the "rockier" version that I sequenced (listed directly below) using the Yamaha S-YXG50 v4.23.14S WDM software synthesizer.

Crank up your speakers... and rock-out to some classic 50's Rock and Roll!

Downed Intro!

New! - September 29, 2011

I sequenced a MIDI version of the song "Downed Intro" (Downed_Intro.mp3), which is the main-menu music from the PC game "Counter-Strike: Condition Zero", and recorded an MP3 of the MIDI file using my MIDI hardware... and the result came out pretty nice sounding :) FYI, the entire original "Counter-Strike: Condition Zero" soundtrack was composed by Zak Belica, and is quite impressive sounding.

Yeah, I know... take an original MP3 from a game (that was originally composed and sequenced as a MIDI file), sequence a MIDI file of it, and then record the MIDI version to an MP3 file LOL!

Anyhow, listen to an MP3 version of the original MIDI file Here (left-click to play / right-click to download), or listen the original MIDI file Here (left-click to play / right-click to download).

Oh... and by the way, the sequenced MIDI file sounds GREAT when played using the freeware media player "XMPlay" (with XMPlay's MIDI Plugin installed) or the freeware "BASSMIDI Driver" for Windows, when used in conjunction with "¥Weeds¥ General MIDI SoundFont v3.0" :)

Google "Doodle" Les Paul Electric Guitar - Original Untitled Cover!

New! - June 11, 2011

It seems like that everyone (and their uncle) has been recently posting YouTube videos of them playing around with Google's new interactive "Doodle", which is a tribute to Les Paul's 96th Birthday.

Hence, I decided to go ahead and record my own... but unlike the others, mine is an original cover song, and in my humble opinion, includes quite a bit better playing skills :) Because of the simple fact that any Les Paul electric guitar is absolutely BEGGING for Fender tube amplifier "spring reverb" effects (as well as "chorus" effects), my version includes added Sound Blaster Live! Environmental Audio Effects (EAX) reverb and chorus.

Anyhow, watch and listen to my YouTube video below, and judge for yourself who's the REAL Google Doodle Les Paul Electric "Guitar Hero" <GRIN>! By the way, you can hear my original recording of the song within the actual interactive Google Doodle by surfing Here. Note that the latency is really high when using your computer keyboard to play the interactive Google Doodle applet, so it can be quite difficult to synchronize the strummed strings and played notes.

Lastly, anyone who knows me, knows that I just can't help but slapping together and cobbling up a SoundFont every chance that I get <GRIN> :) Download the "Google Doodle Les Paul Electric Guitar SoundFont v1.2" Here, and view the SoundFont's readme (also included in the archive) Here.

Note that even though there are only ten strings within the new interactive Google Doodle, there are actually twelve Les Paul electric guitar samples contained in the applet's ShockWave Flash resources file. There is no way to play those two extra strings and notes within the interactive Google Doodle, but my custom SoundFont includes those two extra samples that the interactive Google Doodle does not even use :)

Complete Eternal DOOM MIDI Soundtrack Released!

New! - May 3, 2011

Eternal DOOM III Cover

This archive (Eternal_DOOM_Soundtrack.zip) contains the complete MIDI soundtrack that I composed for Team Eternal's "Eternal DOOM" back in 1996 through 1997. Also included in the archive are several bonus MIDI files, images, and other miscellaneous Eternal DOOM and Eternal DOOM Soundtrack related material.

What is "Eternal DOOM", you ask? Have you been living under a rock?!

Eternal DOOM is an EXCELLENT thirty-four level add-on episode for id Software's PC game "DOOM II", and "Eternal DOOM III" (the third installment of the Eternal DOOM series) was released in November of 1997. Click Here for downloads and more information about "Eternal DOOM"!

...and now without further adieu (and after almost a decade and a half!), download the complete Eternal DOOM MIDI Soundtrack Here, and view the Soundtrack Readme (also included in the archive) Here!

Lyudmila's Song!

New! - April 19, 2011

I composed this piece over the course of the past two weeks or so... a song dedicated to my little baby girl, Lyudmila. The music is an extremely pretty sounding symphonic piece, and I think that you'll like it :)

Listen to the song here, "Lyudmila's Song" (left-click to play / right-click to download).

Goss Groove!

New! - March 18, 2011

Been "Rockin' in the Backwoods" again!

This is "Goss Groove" (music track 15, by John Broomhall) from Chris Sawyer's PC game "Transport Tycoon", converted and optimized for Yamaha XG format (left-click to play / right-click to download). Listen to the song, and watch the YouTube video here: "Goss Groove".

That is how "Goss Groove" should/could sound on all Yamaha XG compatible hardware (e.g. DB50XG, MU50, S-YXG50) :)

Also, be sure to listen to "Grabbag" and "At Doom's Gate" for similar Yamaha XG comparisons (scroll down for further information), and listen to more "Transport Tycoon" music Here (recorded from my own MIDI hardware).

By the way, this will probably be the last third-party Yamaha XG MIDI music conversion that I'll release... it's time to compose some more new music of my own!

Grabbag!

New! - March 15, 2011

Been "Rockin' in the Backwoods" again!

I extracted the title theme music "Grabbag" (by Lee Jackson) from Duke Nukem 3D, and then converted and optimized the MIDI file for Yamaha XG format. I then recorded it to an MP3, and uploaded it here: "Grabbag" (left-click to play / right-click to download). Listen to the song, and watch the YouTube video here: "Grabbag".

That is how "Grabbag" should/could sound on all Yamaha XG compatible hardware (e.g. DB50XG, MU50, S-YXG50) :)

By the way, this is how the same song sounds without the Yamaha XG conversion and optimization. Also, be sure to listen to "At Doom's Gate" for a similar comparison (scroll down for further information).

Protect-A-DOOM Pool Fence Company!

New! - March 6, 2011

Hehe, this is a little something that I threw together back in 1998 after the development of Team Eternal's "Eternal DOOM" for id Software's "DOOM II".

Quite a few years before, I used to install child-protection pool fences for a company called "Protect-A-Child" (located down in Miami, Florida). This was a little joke map/WAD that I had created for DOOM II with a "pool fence theme", including a running DOOM II for DOS demo, as well as a replacement splash screen LOL!

At Doom's Gate!

New! - March 1, 2011

Been "Rockin' in the Backwoods" again!

I extracted the music "At Doom's Gate" (by Robert Prince) from the "Hangar" level (Episode 1 Map 1) of id Software's DOOM, and then converted and optimized the MIDI file for Yamaha XG format. I then recorded it to an MP3, and uploaded it here: "At Doom's Gate" (left-click to play / right-click to download). Listen to the song, and watch the YouTube video here: "At Doom's Gate".

That is how "At Doom's Gate" could/should sound on all Yamaha XG compatible hardware (e.g. DB50XG, MU50, S-YXG50) :)

By the way, this is how the same song sounds without the Yamaha XG conversion and optimization.

Four weeks ago, I got a new Samoyed Huskey... my new baby girl, Lyudmila! She's definitely a handful, but really quite a sweetheart :)

My new baby girl, Lyudmila

Old DOOM II Map!

New! - December 10, 2010

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, DOOM!

Today marks the day, 17 years ago, when the shareware version of DOOM was first uploaded by id Software to the University of Wisconsin's FTP server (well before Al Gore "invented" the Internet)!

In late 1995, DOOM was estimated to be installed on more computers worldwide than Microsoft's new operating system at the time, Windows 95... despite million dollar advertising campaigns for Windows 95.

The game's popularity prompted Bill Gates to briefly consider buying id Software, which id Software rejected, and led Microsoft to develop a relatively lackluster Windows 95 port of DOOM to promote the operating system as a gaming platform. One such video presentation to promote Windows 95 even had Bill Gates digitally superimposed into the game.

The following DOOM II map is a little something that I threw together back in 1998, and even still today it cannot be uploaded to the idGames Internet Archives (due to it being simply a "copy and paste" job of some of the original id Software DOOM and DOOM II maps).

The map is a "copy and paste" (in verbatim) of the first map of DOOM II (MAP01: "Entryway"), the first map of the original DOOM (D_E1M1: "Hangar"), and the first secret map of DOOM II (MAP31: "Wolfenstein")... which of course, is identical to the first map of the PC game Wolfenstein 3D.

The map includes new music, which is simply a medley of DOOM II's "Running From Evil", DOOM's "At Doom's Gate", and Wolfenstein 3D's "Get Them Before They Get You". Also included is the original "SKY1" sky texture from DOOM's Episode 1: "Knee Deep in the Dead", as well as a demo of your's truly completing the map!

Anyhow, download the map "id Games - Back In Time!", view the readme, view a layout screenshot of the map... and HAVE FUN!

Layla!

New! - December 3, 2010

Been "Rockin' in the Backwoods" again!

I took the MIDI file "Layla" (that is freely available all over the Internet), and re-sequenced the song in Yamaha XG format, recorded it to an MP3, and uploaded it here: "Layla: Live!" (left-click to play / right-click to download).

Like my own two other songs "Black and White: Live!" and "DOOMin': Live!" (mentioned below), the song is a live rock concert performance sort of thing, with a driving Hard Rock style that the screaming girls in the crowd and the audience in the MP3 seem to like! Crank up your speakers and rock-out, and cheer along with the crowd if you feel like it :)

Blockbuster Movie Soundtrack (Part 2)!

New! - November 20, 2010

Coming soon to an MP3 near you...

I composed this piece over the course of the past few nights, the next movement for the next scene in our "blockbuster movie". It's the next scene after the big-screen battle, and our hero's comrade (the co-star of the movie) has been killed during the fight. A haunting and melancholy tune (based on the underlying theme of the previous piece) drifts through the air.

Anyhow, here's the song: "XF Death Scene" (left-click to play / right-click to download)... again, I hope you have some BIG speakers for this one!

Call me, George <GRIN>! :)

Blockbuster Movie Soundtrack (Part 1)!

New! - November 14, 2010

Threw this one together last night, something completely different... in actuality, the genre that I normally compose. The piece is a blockbuster movie soundtrack sort of thing, and is loosely based on the underlying melody/theme of the score from the movie "Transformers" (hence the title, "X-Formers").

The music would fit any sort of battle scene from most any blockbuster movie genre; Sci-Fi, Military War, Space Battle... take your pick :) Hopefully George Lucas will be giving me a call soon <GRIN> :)

Anyhow, here's the song: "X-Formers" (left-click to play / right-click to download)... hope you have some BIG speakers for this one!

I've been using Cakewalk Professional v3.01 for MIDI sequencing and composing since I first bought it back in 1995, and I still use it even today as my primary MIDI sequencer.

In my (not so) humble opinion, it is absolutely the best MIDI sequencer available, hands down... as well as being the absolute BEST version of Cakewalk (for primarily sequencing MIDI files). Again, in my (not so) humble opinion, Twelve Tone Systems completely destroyed the basic (as well as the advanced) MIDI sequencing features in Cakewalk Professional with any of the later and "greater" versions of the program.

This, because of the additions of all of the various digital audio editing "features" that Twelve Tone Systems added to the newer versions of Cakewalk Professional (e.g. Cakewalk Pro Audio, etc...). Consequently, Twelve Tone Systems removed a lot of the basic and extremely handy (as well as advanced) MIDI sequencing features from Cakewalk Professional v3.01.

If I wish to edit digital audio, I would just as soon use the programs Cool Edit Professional and GoldWave... but, if I want to MIDI sequence or compose, I will surely be using good old Cakewalk Professional v3.01!

Anyhow, quite a while back Twelve Tone Systems granted permission to freely distribute the full retail installation of Cakewalk Professional v3.01... which had a suggested retail price of $350 back in 1995! Download it from this web page right Here... and MIDI sequence and compose to your heart's content :)

Note that the Cakewalk Professional v3.01 installation files MUST be copied to a "DISK1" directory on your hard drive (e.g. "C:\DISK1"), and executed from within that directory in order for the installation to be successful. Otherwise, you will see "File not found!" error messages reported by the installation program when running it, and the installation will not proceed. That is how the original Cakewalk Professional v3.01 installation floppy was organized, with all of the installation files contained in a "DISK1" directory on the floppy (e.g. "A:\DISK1"). Nevertheless, the old Cakewalk Professional v3.01 runs just fine under Windows 3.x, Windows 9.x, and Windows XP, as well as the newer Windows Vista and Windows 7! :)

Also, another file that you might find handy to download is Professional8PDF.zip. That ZIP archive contains an Adobe Acrobat "PDF" format document of the user's guide that was included with Cakewalk Pro Audio v8.0, but a lot of the help and information in that user's guide also pertains to Cakewalk Professional v3.01.

As an example, one difference is that Twelve Tone Systems (in their "infinite wisdom") removed the EXTREMELY handy "Faders" view from Cakewalk Pro Audio v8.0, and replaced it with another "sliders" sort of feature... which in my (not so) humble opinion is total garbage (and is NO WHERE near as functional for MIDI editing and sequencing as the "Faders" view in Cakewalk Professional v3.01). Hence, the Cakewalk Pro Audio v8.0 user's guide doesn't cover the older "Faders" view that was included with Cakewalk Professional v3.01... but, a lot of the other help and information in the guide is still quite useful.

Lastly, note that you can also download some of my own custom goodies and utilities for Cakewalk Professional v3.01 (Fader Setups, MIDI Controller Lists, System Exclusive Dumps, etc...) for various MIDI devices and hardware Here (for EMU SoundFont based MIDI hardware), and Here (for Yamaha XG based MIDI hardware).

Oh... and by the way, Cakewalk Professional v3.01 works GREAT with the freeware BASSMIDI Driver for Windows, when used in conjunction with ¥Weeds¥ General MIDI SoundFont v3.0 :)

Eternal DOOM Music!

New! - October 31, 2010

Been "Rockin' in the Backwoods" again!

Here's a song that I had originally written back in 1995, which was later added to the soundtrack for Team Eternal's "Eternal DOOM". Most of the music that I had composed for Eternal DOOM was fairly "high-browed" type of stuff, but this song was one of the more driving rock pieces included with the game.

I have re-sequenced the song in Yamaha XG format, recorded it to an MP3, and uploaded it here: "DOOMin': Live!" (left-click to play / right-click to download). Listen to the song, and watch the YouTube video here: "DOOMin': Live!".

Like the song "Black and White: Live!" (mentioned below), the song is a live rock concert performance sort of thing, with a driving Hard Rock style that the screaming girls in the crowd and the audience in the MP3 seem to like! Again, crank up your speakers and rock-out, and cheer along with the crowd if you feel like it :)

A New Song, and an OLD Song!

New! - October 27, 2010

Been "Rockin' in the Backwoods"!

Here's a song that I had originally written back in 1996 or so, but had never finished. I decided to re-sequenced the song in Yamaha XG format, finish it up, record it to an MP3, and upload it here: "Black and White: Live!" (left-click to play / right-click to download).

The song is a live rock concert performance sort of thing, with a driving Classic Rock style that everyone is sure to like. Well, at least the screaming girls in the crowd and the audience in the MP3 seem to like it LOL! Crank up your speakers, and Rock-Out. Oh... and cheer along with the crowd if you feel like it :)

And now for something completely different, a true live performance... "Way Up In Glory Land" (left-click to play / right-click to download).

This song is an old a-cappella Gospel piece originally performed by the Schieler Quartet back in 1985 for the Old Cutler Presbyterian Church in Miami, Florida (I sang bass in the quartet and the church choir back then). The perfomance was originally recorded on an old camcorder, almost two decades later transfered to a DVD, and now has made it's way to a "stereo-fied" MP3 :)

A Few New and Old Songs!

New! - October 1, 2010

This is something that I originally composed back when I was kid (circa 1972-1973 or so), and decades later the tune made it's way to the PC as a full arrangement. I rearranged it a bit tonight, recorded it to an MP3, and uploaded it here: "Fat Albert II" (left-click to play / right-click to download). It always sounded to me like something that "Fat Albert and The Gang" would play and sing, hence the name <GRIN>!

This song is "Greensleeves" (left-click to play / right-click to download), and is also known as "What Child Is This?". The song is one of my own custom arrangements from several years ago of the traditional Christmas piece, and consists of Harpsichord, Orchestral Harp, Oboe, Tubular Bells, and Pipe Organ. The song is also included on the "Aspen's Song" CD-ROM (mentioned below).

This is a little something that I threw together last night (to ease my mind off of other things): "Just A Little Bit Longer" (left-click to play / right-click to download). The song is loosely based on the old classic song from the 1960's (?) with the same title, and quite possibly another song (?) from the same era that I can't currently think of the name of.

This is something that I threw together rather quickly back in March 2010 to feature my "¥Weeds¥ General MIDI SoundFont v3.0" (mentioned below): "March To War" (left-click to play / right-click to download).

This is a song that I composed back in 1999, and is also included on the "Aspen's Song" CD-ROM (mentioned below): "Ramblings of a Non-Pianist (Op. 2)" (left-click to play / right-click to download).

A Bunch of Old Songs!

New! - April 4, 2010

"The Cornbread Mama Blues" (left-click to play / right-click to download) was a song that I had written in 1985, back in my "band" days. The music is a Honkytonk/Blues kind of thing, quite unlike most of my other music, such as my "Eternal DOOM" compositions <GRIN> :)

Being a MIDI musician for the past two decades, this was simply an experiment with Cool Edit Professional's multi-track recording capabilities. Most of the tracks for the song were completely improvised except for the vocals... so if you hear any mistakes or other hilarious sounds, that is the reason <GRIN>. Like I said, it was an experiment :)

All of the tracks were recorded from one of those cheap "stub" microphones <GRIN> that shipped with all of the Creative Labs line of sound cards of the time, hence the lower audio quality. The 12-String Guitar and Harmonica are real instruments, while the rest of the instruments (B-Flat Rotor Organ, Drums, Accoustic Bass, and Piano) are all generated from my MIDI hardware.

"Blues Riff" (left-click to play / right-click to download) and "Wailin' Harmonica Blues" (left-click to play / right-click to download): Like the song "The Cornbread Mama Blues" (mentioned above), this song was also recorded on one of those cheap "stub" microphones, improvising away on my 12-String Guitar and Harmonica. Again, don't expect too much from these two "pieces" <GRIN>!

"Sweet Little Jesus Boy" (left-click to play / right-click to download) was the bridge from the original Negro Spiritial "Sweet Little Jesus Boy" by Kenny Rogers. The lead vocals were removed using Cool Edit Professional (maintaining the original female Gospel choir backup vocals), and with your's truly singing the melody... with the addition of a few of my own original backup vocals as well <GRIN> :)

This excellent sounding complete General MIDI compatible SoundFont was created from various commercial, custom, and freeware SoundFonts and samples and requires 54,694,776 bytes of onboard EMU-8000 (AWE32/AWE64), EMU-10K (Audigy/SBLive!), or EMU-20K (X-Fi) RAM. The SoundFont weighs in at almost 55 megabytes, and includes a complete General MIDI compliment of 128 instruments and 9 drum kits (Standard, Studio, Room, Power, Electronic, TR-808, Jazz, Brush, and Orchestra)... and is the last General MIDI compatible SoundFont that you will ever need or wish to download for all of your MIDI music compositions or playback!

    "Thanks, great SoundFont!" - SmartOne

"This rules! Works on XMPLAY too!" - Csonicgo

"You did make a good SoundFont, thanks for sharing it :)" - FB

"Works flawlessly with EDGE and HT, and sounds great too! Nice job!" - Chu

"Thanks, this sounds pretty good! Another for my SoundFont collection." - Phi108

"Thanks! I've tried it a little and it sounds great. Always good to have another good SoundFont to choose from." - Teppic

"Thanks very much for this SoundFont. The DOOM MIDI files sound better with this than the Chorium Rev. A SoundFont!" - RedBaron

"Wait, you're the guy who did the Eternal DOOM III soundtrack? Awesome! :) Very eager to test this out with some MIDIs of my own." - Jimmy91

"Impressive work, RFNagel :) Have you considered joining forces with the 'Freepats' project? They surely could use your help, me thinks." - Digger

"A friend of mine suggested that I download and install the SoundFont, and I think you should do the same thing... Seriously, it's awesome!" - TerraNova

"I have never found anywhere a more authentic sounding SoundFont even close to it. Aside from a few tiny quirks, it's my favorite SoundFont!" - NeuralStunner

"Haven't heard an Overdriven Guitar patch sound that nice for a GM SoundFont this size. Overall, this is a good SoundFont. Drums are a little weak for my taste, but I like it." - Primeval

"I just wanted to add my voice of thanks along with everybody else, because this SoundFont simply rocks! In 15 years, I simply have not heard a better sounding General MIDI SoundFont. Again, many thanks for this great SoundFont!" - Joseph

"Wow! This SoundFont is superior to the "EAWPats" Gravis patches, and I'd even be inclined to say it's nicer than the actual hardware Sound Canvas in most places. Well done, Rich! Making a good patch set is hard, I must have tried a billion SoundFonts and never thought I'd hear one this complete and awesome. It's a really good blend of retro and realism, perfect for the DOOM music." - Super Jamie

"I'm impressed, Sir. I have a TON, literally a TON, of SoundFonts. I could probably make an entire archive with how many I have. Your SoundFont manages to beat a few I have which are 2 to 5 times as big. Kudos. This SoundFont also has some of the best synth strings I've ever heard in a SoundFont thus far, too. Double kudos. Don't have big speakers, but I have a Sennheiser HD 280 pro headset, so I did hear how nice the pipe organ is. Love those samples." - Bouncy

"I had to write in to say a heartfelt "thankyou" for sharing this General MIDI SoundFont... it is truly amazing! I did some listening tests with various other available SoundFonts, and my conclusion is that this SoundFont stands out as simply the most responsive musically of them all. Many of the others seem initially impressive in one way or another but tend not to reproduce intonations as well. Having said that, I must reiterate that the "musicality" (for want of a better word) of "¥Weeds¥ General MIDI SoundFont v3.0" overrides the sweeter notes of those other SoundFonts." - Keith Logan

"I spent a good hour sampling several MIDI's from my personal favorite soundtracks. Despite having been in possession of only the bog standard "8MB" soundfonts from the archives, I can undoubtedly state this is a remarkable feat of selecting the right instruments which complement one another. The result is many tracks have a retro and authentic feel to them, akin to their unaltered General MIDI format. Yet the new instruments provide a real kick, adding a depth of atmosphere, immersion along with awesome catchiness. Excellent soundfont, Rich! Thanks for taking the initiative to finish what must have been an arduous task, your efforts really do shine!" - Bloodite Krypto

    Important Server URL Notes!

    (Re: Broken Links)
If you surf to any of my web pages (especially the older ones) and find any broken links, try replacing "www.cmoo.com" with "http://jasonwilliams400com.startlogic.com" within the URL - e.g. http://www.cmoo.com/snor/weeds/ would be http://jasonwilliams400com.startlogic.com/snor/weeds/.

Note that the new URL does not contain "www", and note the inclusion of the last trailing forwardslash "/".

Lastly, note that that almost all of the URLs contained within any of my web pages are case-sensitive - i.e. http://jasonwilliams400com.startlogic.com/snor/weeds/soundfonts/ is NOT the same as http://jasonwilliams400com.startlogic.com/snor/weeds/SoundFonts/ (with the first link resulting in a "404" error message "File Not Found" when attempting to surf to it).

¥Weeds¥ Shaking Fist ¥Weeds¥ Rant of the Day #1! ¥Weeds¥ Ranting Smiley

Are you sick and tired of the inferior and defective mantles that BriteLyt is selling for the Aida/Petromax/Hipolito/BriteLyt 500CP kerosene lanterns, that immediately blow a hole out of the bottom of mantle when initially lighting the lantern, or do not survive more than a single use or two before totally disintegrating? Try the Coleman #11-102C Mantles that Coleman sells for their Model 639B700 500CP kerosene lantern... they work superbly in the afore-mentioned lanterns, and cost considerably less as well!

In the (more than) three months that BriteLyt has been raving over at their Internet message board about their new so-called "superior Super Mantle" that they have been developing for these lanterns (which will cost about TWICE the price of their regular mantles), I have been using the EXACT SAME Coleman #11-102C mantle that I originally installed in my Hipolito 500CP kerosene lantern well over three months ago (with numerous lightings, and quite a few fuel-fills of use)... ironic, isn't it?

Update - February 1, 2006: BriteLyt has finally released their new so-called "superior Super Mantle" that they have been "developing" for these lanterns. Developing? No! These so-called "new" mantles that BriteLyt supposedly "developed" are made by Luxor... and are the exact same mantles that Luxor has been selling for years for these lanterns!

Read the Total Blather and More Total Blather of one of our so-called "educated" younger generation... a prime example of a "first-time voter" who will be voting in the upcoming presidential election!

Seriously folks, at the very least, click on the first link above and browse a few of the comments by this "educated" first-time voter. Then, after you've had your fill, read his first Hypocritical Blog Entry about nonviolence, peace, love, brotherhood, and singing Kumbaya in general. It's a scary concept that this is one who will be participating in the upcoming presidential election, isn't it?

Update - March 7, 2010: After being banned from a popular Message Forum on the Internet (in direct response to his hateful spewings), as well as abandoning his two previously mentioned blogs, he has created yet another Internet Blog to continue the propagation of his totally hate-filled rhetoric. Surf over to his new blog and browse around... that is, until nausea completely overwhelms you!

Dish Network - The Obama Channel 73

This new "OBAMA" satellite dish television station on Dish Network runs continuously 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, up until the presidential election. The latest news (October 9, 2008) is that the Obama campaign is also working on a deal for a 30 minute prime-time slot on all of the major broadcast network television stations to be aired directly before the election.
How the hell much $$$ does this cost? Exactly who are his campaign contributors?¥Weeds¥ Ranting Smiley

Update - October 10, 2008: After emailing Dish Network with the question of "How much is the Obama campaign paying for this new television station?", I received the reply "We're sorry, but this information is unavailable".

    Current news - April 22, 2009

In case you might have missed it, today is Earth Day!

To do my own little part to "save the planet" I figured that I'd post specific instructions for cleaning up the toxic waste caused by accidently breaking one of those little compact fluorescent light bulbs... you know, the ones that are actually supposed to save the planet by conserving electricity (not destroy it by releasing toxins into the environment that may kill you!).

This directly from the EPA's web site at http://www.epa.gov/hg/spills :

Mercury Spills, Disposal and Site Cleanup:

What to Do if a Compact Fluorescent Light Bulb Breaks

Compact fluorescent light bulbs contain mercury sealed within the glass tubing. The EPA recommends the following clean-up and disposal below. Please also read the information below on this page about "What Never to Do with a Mercury Spill".

Before Clean-up: Air Out the Room

    Clean-Up Steps for Hard Surfaces

Clean-up Steps for Carpeting or Rug

Clean-up Steps for Clothing, Bedding and Other Soft Materials

    Disposal of Clean-up Materials

Future Cleaning of Carpeting or Rug: Air Out the Room During and After Vacuuming

What Never to Do with a Mercury Spill!

So, there you have it... and I highly recommend printing out these instructions for future reference. You know, so's you don't destroy the planet (or possibly poison yourself to death)... with these modern so-called green-technology wonders!

By the way Prez. Obama, where's my complimentary automobile tire-pressure gauge?

Also Prez. Obama, folk's electricity bills in my locale are soon to be increased as much as $50 A MONTH(!) by the local power company (this due to your massive tax spending... er... I mean, green incentives). That $13 a week tax break that your regime has so graciously given the American people will sure come in handy now, thanks!

So much for that extra can of beans that folks were going to treat themselves to...

Lastly, the latest word from climate researchers is that obese people indirectly contribute to a substantial percentage of so-called "climate change" to the planet. As I type this current rant of the day, I'm snacking on a bag of "Low Fat Mini Pretzel Twists". Just a-wondering... do I get a "Carbon Credit" for not contributing to this statistic?

    Sieg Heil, Comrade Obama!

65 years ago to the day (August 4) Anne Frank was narked out by a "concerned citizen" as to where she was hiding. The nark dutifully supported his government and "did the right thing for the country".

On August 4, 2009, President NoBama has instructed our Good Citizens to be just as vigilant towards those who would have the AUDACITY to disagree with his policies, and to report such anti-government activities to the White House itself!

"There is a lot of disinformation about health insurance reform out there, spanning from control of personal finances to end of life care. These rumors often travel just below the surface via chain emails or through casual conversation. Since we can’t keep track of all of them here at the White House, we’re asking for your help. If you get an email or see something on the web about health insurance reform that seems fishy, send it to flag@whitehouse.gov."

Obama Signs Bailout for 3D Realms
    Washington, D.C.

All out of bubblegum, but flush with taxpayer cash... and ready to kick ass.

In a small White House ceremony this morning, President Barak Obama signed into law Software Development Infinite Life Cycle Funding Relief Program (SDILCFRP), providing $20 billion of tax payer dollars for struggling developer 3D Realms.

"It is important that we look toward long-term employment considerations in the United States, and this law will employ dozens for at least two decades of further development on Duke Nukem Forever," the President said in brief remarks. "In a world where the process is clearly more important than the goal, we must make sure that people are rewarded just for being, and not punished for failing to produce."

Under terms of the new law, 3D Realms will be required to make changes to game content to be consistent with administration policies and initiatives.

3D Realms' flagship game, Duke Nukem Forever, will be renamed to "Duke Nuke for Change", and its star character will undergo a make-over to "better represent America to the world," according to UN Ambassador Susan Rice.

"It is no wonder that this game failed. Duke Nukem is the arch-typical right-wing extremist, carrying guns everywhere and waving the American flag. He bears no social obligation and leaves a trail of destruction wherever he goes," Rice said.

Nukem will now carry the UN banner throughout the game, reading Miranda rights to the game's enemies and carrying injured aliens to free healthcare facilities throughout the urban areas that represent the game's setting.

Part of Duke Nukem's change will be disarming the charismatic character, with his guns being replaced with a ballpoint pen from ACORN and a voter registration clipboard. Nukem's new goal will be to enlighten extraterrestrial enemies to register to vote and participate in the political process, a possible indication of Obama's support of alien voter rights in the US.

In addition, the infamous swine-shaped law enforcement agents will be removed from the game entirely, so as to not offend Muslims who Obama hopes will become consumers of the software title, once completed. Instead, all enemies will be modeled to appear as Rush Limbaugh.

"If Duke is successful in registering them to vote, he will gain points and the enemy will transform into an attractive, young, cool hipster wearing hemp clothing and carrying the latest iPhone," according to DNF's new project manager, Rahm Emmanuel. "However, if Nukem fails to register the enemy, their kidneys will immediately fail and they will die."

Republicans immediately released a statement blasting the program as a waste of tax payer dollars, and promised to slow the funding by placing George Broussard in charge of all SDILCFRP operations.

Craigslist... A Bunch of Moronic Boneheads! - December 2, 2010

Yesterday I posted the following classified advertisement over at Craigslist:

    Wanting a Female Samoyed Puppy

I'm looking for a pure breed female Samoyed puppy.

I had to put my little baby girl "Aspen" down back in July (see attached picture, my baby, Aspen), and would really like to have another to fill the void. Aspen was a real sweetheart, and I had her since she was a tiny puppy. Back in June and July, she wasn't doing well (due to her age), as she was over 15 years old (quite an age for a large breed dog).

Even after four months she is EXTREMELY and SORELY missed  :(

I'm looking for another little girl; who will be provided with lots of love and care, a good and safe home, and be primarily kept indoors.

Within ten minutes after posting the advertisement, I recieved the following email from Craigslist:

    ...which I did.

Within a few shorts minutes after posting the message within Craigslist's "Flag Help" forum, I had already received several replies... from some of the most condescending and rude morons that I have ever dealt with in all of my many years of on-line experience!

Several of the rude replies that I recieved were "There is *NO* "Pets Wanted" section on Craigslist!!!", and "Craigslist does NOT allow the solicitation of pets!!!". Other replies included "Do your own legwork, lazy!!!"... and the like.

I had previously checked Craigslist's "Terms of Use" as far as pets were concerned. They prohibit the sale of pets... but they DO allow "pet adoptions" (with a small optional "re-homing" fee). Hey, MORONS, I was *NOT* selling, and I was *NOT* buying!

So... let me get this straight... you know, so's us ignert simple-folks can figger it out:

I suppose that it is fine and dandy to solicit for a "personal escort" within other QUESTIONABLE sections of Craigslist!

I also suppose that if I were a husband searching for another male to have sex with my wife, so I could watch and film the whole damned thing, that would be FINE!

BUT, something as INNOCENT as asking for puppy is a NO-GO!

Craigslist, as well as the posters who replied to my message within their idiotic forums are total BONEHEADED MORONS! I have a suggestion, IDIOTS... MOVE THE HELL OVER TO SAN FRANCISCO (refer to ¥Weeds¥ Rant of the Day #17 above)!

Like the other visitors to my site, I'm glad to see that YOU are one of MY frequent readers as well (nevertheless, the above content is still accurate). Good day, sir!

A novel concept: Getting all of the facts, first. - March 24, 2012

    The truth be damned...

On Friday it was revealed that an anonymous witness told police that he saw slain Sanford Florida teen Trayvon Martin on top of his killer, George Zimmerman, prior to the neighborhood watch volunteer shooting the young man in the chest. The witness told a local Orlando news outlet he saw Zimmerman (wearing a red sweater), and Trayvon (wearing a gray hoodie), fighting.

"The guy on the bottom, who had a red sweater on, was yelling to me "Help! help!", and I told him (Martin) to stop and that I was calling 911.", the witness stated. He added, "When I got upstairs and looked down, the guy who was on top beating up the other guy was the one laying in the grass, and I believe he was dead at that point."

...which is why that I said from DAY-ONE that we should have all of our FACTS in order before jumping to conclusions, staging thousand-people protests, and lynching the man. Even the Annointed One has weighed-in on the subject (then again, to quote Obama himself on other topics, "I don't have all of the facts, but....").

A LARGE portion of this has been driven by the "lame-stream" media. I myself heard Soledad O'Brien on CNN state (paraphrasing here):

"There was a racial slur said during Zimmerman's 911 call, and I've heard it myself. Now, I'm not going to say the actual word, but you can hear the full 911 call elsewhere on the Internet".

CNN then went on to play the audio of the 911 call, and BLEEPED the so-called part where Zimmerman had allegedly uttered a "racial slur".

    Hmmm... truth be damned...

I heard the EXACT SAME 911 audio on Fox News, and they did NOT censor the clip. The section that CNN had bleeped-out was completely INAUDIBLE and GARBLED. Eh, it figures...

I stated from the beginning... if Zimmerman was guilty of murdering the boy, string him up from the highest tree. But, I ALSO said that we should refrain from a verdict until all of the FACTS were known.

Damn... there's that word again... "FACTS"!

Scott Walker Wins Wisconsin Recall Election!

Last night Scott Walker won the Wisconsin recall election by a landslide! The results were 53 percent to 46 percent... but even then, it is amazing that as many as 46% of Wisconsin's citizens voted against him. It is also beyond belief that this recall election was even held in the first place!

To the 46 "percenters", let us briefly review (sorry, I really hate to boggle your liberal minds with facts):

In only the 16 months that Scott Walker has held office:

  • More than 30,000 new jobs have been created.
  • The unemployment rate has plummeted from 7.7 percent to 6.7 percent, the lowest since 2008.
  • Wisconsin's deficit was reduced from $3.6 billion (not only one of the largest in the state's history, but one of the largest per-capita) to a $150 million surplus (without raising taxes, massive layoffs, or cuts in entitlements such as Medicaid).
  • For the first time in 12 years the state's property taxes for medium-value homes is dramatically decreasing.
  • If only the the Annointed One had done the same within the almost 4 years that he has been running the country... into the ground! Anyhow, I'm quite pleased. The people have spoken... which is democracy in action. Now, let's do the same in November 2012!

Reclaim control of your country from complete and total incompetence in 2012!

    Obama Re-Elected:

i.e. I LIVE IN A COUNTRY OF MORONS!

I wonder if Michele Obama is "finally proud of" her "country for the" second "time in" her "adult life"? I know that I am NOT... how in the world can this totally sorry-assed excuse of a "president" have been re-elected for a SECOND term?

I suppose that the majority simply thinks that their life is "as good or better", than it was FOUR YEARS AGO when Obama was first elected and first took office (???).

    Hence...

With the MILLIONS MORE of Americans who are unemployed, MILLIONS MORE of Americans who are on food stamps, MILLIONS MORE of Americans struggling to keep food on their tables, MILLIONS MORE of Americans struggling to keep their lights in their homes powered, MILLIONS MORE of Americans struggling to have fuel in their cars, MILLIONS MORE of Americans who's home values and assets have plummeted and depreciated down to NOTHING, MILLIONS MORE of Americans who's quality of life and well-being has completely went down the crapper, and MILLIONS MORE of Americans who are seriously concerned about the SECURITY and FUTURE of their country...

ALL due to the past FOUR YEARS of this UTTERLY WORTHLESS and TOTALLY INCOMPETENT administration...

...the majority absolutely MUST be one of those so-called "one-percenters" that they so HATEFULLY detest!

Comedian Ron White's catch-phrase surely sums it up the best...

    "You can't fix stupid!"

Oh... and to "play" Left-Wing Liberal for a few short moments...

...if you disagree with anything that I have said, you are nothing but a hateful, biggoted, racist, obama-islama-homophobe, who hates kittens and trees and the earth! (See Liberals? Two can play at that game as well!)

Obama and Biden take their so-called "Oath" of Office today!

It seems to me that directly after Obama and Biden are sworn in today as President and Vice President of the United States, impeachment proceedings should immediately begin!

After all, part of the Oath of Office that they have sworn to uphold includes:

"Preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States".

    EPIC FAIL!
